Blane has always been the sailor in the family. He started sailing Hobie cats and Lasers when he was 12 years old and has always had an affinity for water sports. Cindy fell in love with sailing after they won their first Hobie cat regatta in 2010.
One night some time after the regatta, Blane asked Cindy, ” So are you ready to sail around the world with me?” Cindy says, ” Of course, but who is going to drive the boat?” Blane said,”We are!” From that point on the idea of us circumnavigating the globe has always been in the back of our minds. However, living in Arizona at the time, sailing was not a desert sport so we made sure to include sailing adventures in our travels.Then Chicago happened.
Moving to Chicago was meant to be for us in so many ways but we know that here we can get the experience with the varying conditions of Lake Michigan will be necessary to put us to the test before we set sail on our dream voyage of circumnavigating the globe.
